Our annual recital "OZ & Nz"
is June 16, 2012 at Carson City Community Theater.
It will feature songs and dances from all things Oz (The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked) and, well, "ends" - other numbers! Showtime TBA.

Zumba Fitness
Wed. 6:30-7:30, Cost: only $8.00/class or $30.00/4-class card

We are excited to add Zumba fitness to our schedule! Ages: Teens/Adults

Melissa Zinser is a certified Zumba instructor and she knows how to make a fitness class a fun- tastic dance party! No dance experience necessary. (Bring plenty of water and a towel – you will sweat from a good work-out.)

What is Zumba? It’s a very exciting dance party atmosphere full of Latin and international music. You’ll forget you’re working out with the simple yet aerobic moves to invigorating and up-beat dance music. The workout is basically watch and flow. The moves are repeated enough for anyone to catch on. The time will go by in a flash, but your body will reap the benefits of the full hour.

Comments from our free trial class at Kia’s FR Dance:
1. The Zumba class on Saturday was awesome. Melissa is a great instructor. I liked that the class so upbeat and fast. Definitely got my heart going within the first song. Can't wait to come back for more. :)

2. I have never “Zumba-ed” before, but I now know what my fitness program will include on a regular basis: ZUMBA! It is a super fun way to get into or stay in shape. Melissa is a great teacher and her enthusiasm is contagious! Now I know why it is so popular around the world – I am sold!

3. I have to send a big thank you for inviting me to try the Zumba Class. I have been working out for many years (running, weight training, etc), and that was a GREAT workout and soooo much fun! I have never considered myself a dancer, but I enjoyed the class so much, I can't wait to do it again!

Aerial Silks,
Junior class, Saturdays, 11:45-12:30
Cost: $48.00/month (this class is included in the regular tuition)

By popular demand, we have added an aerial silks class geared specifically to ages 8-12. It is taught by Lane and immediately follows his Parkour/Tumbling class, from 11:45-12:30, on Saturdays.

This class is not only fun, but it is another form of a great workout for kids. It will improve their balance, core strength, and stretch - all at the same time. Kids LOVE this class!

Hollywood Holiday!
Kia's FRDance (Fascinating Rhythm School of Performing Arts) recently hosted a Hollywood Holiday where young, aspiring Stars learned about Hollywood's Hey-Day (watching and studying movies of the by-gone era of great entertainers such as Gene Kelly, Shirley Temple, Bo Jangles, Julie Andrews, et al), learned musical-style songs and dances, designed costumes, and more. At the end of the week, the young performers dressed in glamorous attire, rode in a limo around South Reno, to formally exit and walk the red carpet to the flashes of paprazzi (parents). The evening was capped off by a performance and movie (That's Entertainment). It was great fun!

Personal Applause:
Kia's FR Dance was chosen as the exclusive studio to provide children cast as the LOST BOYS for the recent Peter Pan show performed at the Eldorado and produced out of London, England! The show ran from November 18, 2011 – January 1, 2012, and was often sold out.

Although the principal cast (Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, et al) were professional actors/singers from London, England or New York City, the children portraying the Lost Boys were all local young performers, ranging in age from 7-14 years old. We are extremely proud that our performing arts school was diligently selected to represent the entire cast of children.

We look forward to more adventures working with Big Family Entertainment, LLC, and Quintin Young, the producer/director out of London, England. From the great success of the Peter Pan show, I am confident that we will indeed “tread the boards” together again on another theatrical endeavor.

Kia’s FR Dance is Reno's most diverse and contemporary dance studio, offering dance classes in all styles, in all levels and for all ages. In addition to dance, we have classes in aerial silks, musical theater, show choir, and tumbling. (See Class Descriptions for details.)

With an expert staff of 15 talented teachers – the largest staff of any private dance studio in Northern Nevada - dancers are promised a well-rounded education in all areas of the performing arts from beginning to professional. Our teachers are current/former professional performers that have extensive training and vast stage experience, bringing their expertise and knowledge to the classroom. We are a friendly, family-oriented studio located in South Reno, proud of our happy, creative, whimsical, and encouraging environment. We do our best to make sure it’s inherently positive nature is maintained from teachers to students to parents alike, exemplified by our motto: "Dance Hard, Laugh Loud."

Our 5,400+ square ft. facility has three studios with sprung wood floors designed specifically for dance and exercise, 27-foot high ceilings, mirrors, stage lighting, independent heating & air conditioning, and observation windows (yes, you are always welcome to watch).

Pixie Pre-Ballet, Happy Feet Combo, So You Think You Can Dance (multiple styles), Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary-Lyrical, Modern, Pointe, Leaps & Turns, Glee Club (show choir), Quadruple Threats (dance theater & tumbling), Aerial Silks, Stretch & Conditioning and Special Needs Dance (we are also the only private dance studio in Northern Nevada offering independent dance to students with special needs). We are happy to offer the following new classes: GIRLS ONLY Sassy Jazz, BOYS ONLY Dude Jazz, and Adult Tap or Ballet classes for Fun & Exercise. (See Class Descriptions for details.)

In addition to our scheduled classes, our facility is available to rent for outside dance/exercise classes, master classes, rehearsals, birthday parties, business meetings, and private events. (See Studio Rental.)

Kia's FR Dance follows WCSD's traditional school year holiday schedule, with few exceptions (which will be posted and announced).
